Women's self defense class at MD Condesa, Mexico City

Built for you, no intimidation

Starting a martial art can feel intimidating, especially in a room where you don't feel comfortable. That's exactly what we look after at MD Condesa: a respectful, ego-free community with coaches who scale every class to your level. We have women students of all ages, many started from zero, and nobody rushes you.

You don't need fitness or experience — just the willingness to learn something that serves you for life.

Why Jiu-Jitsu matters most for women

Of all the arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is especially valuable for women's self defense: it was designed precisely so a smaller person can control and neutralize a bigger, stronger one using technique and leverage rather than strength. Since most assaults end in a struggle or on the ground, knowing what to do there changes everything.

We complement it with Muay Thai and boxing for standing distance: striking, setting boundaries and the composure to react. One membership covers it all.

Confidence you carry with you

Beyond the techniques, what students value most is the confidence they gain: walking differently, setting boundaries without fear, knowing they can take care of themselves. That confidence is trained — and it shows off the mat. New to the city? We welcome drop-ins too.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are there women-only classes?
Our regular classes are mixed, in a respectful and safe environment where many women train. If you're interested in a women-specific format or workshop, message us on WhatsApp and we'll share current options.
Do I need experience or fitness?
No. You start at your current level and progress at your own pace. Many of our women students began with no experience at all.
Why do you recommend Jiu-Jitsu for women?
Because it's designed for a smaller person to control a larger one using technique and leverage instead of strength — highly relevant to real self defense.
Are classes in English?
Classes are taught in Spanish, but several coaches and many students speak English, and technique is demonstrated visually.
Will I have to fight?
No. Training is technique and controlled practice in a safe environment. Sparring is optional and progressive, only when you feel ready.
