Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class at MD Condesa, Mexico City

A Gracie-lineage academy in Condesa

MD Condesa is part of Renzo Gracie Mexico. Our founder, Mario Delgado, is Mexico's first Gracie black belt, awarded directly by Renzo Gracie after years of training at his New York academy while competing at the highest level — multiple national titles and a world championship silver medal.

Every coach on our mats was developed personally by Mario, and he still teaches here at least once a month. If you want technical, old-school-meets-modern Jiu-Jitsu while you're in Mexico City, this is the source. Read the lineage story →

Visiting Mexico City? Drop in and train

Condesa is Mexico City's favorite neighborhood for traveling grapplers — walkable, green, and full of great food. We're used to visitors: BJJ travelers drop in year-round, the room is friendly, and several coaches and many students speak English.

Check the drop-in guide for visitors for everything you need (what to bring, etiquette, how to confirm a class), or read our full guide to training BJJ in Mexico City.

Gi and No-Gi, morning and night

We train both sides of the art: Gi (kimono) with its grip-heavy, technical game, and No-Gi, faster and closer to MMA grappling. Mondays and Wednesdays lean Gi; Tuesdays and Thursdays lean No-Gi — so pack for whichever days you'll train, or bring both.

Morning classes run 7–11 AM and evening classes 6–8 PM on weekdays, plus weekend sessions — easy to fit around work or a travel itinerary. Not sure which style to start with? Here's our take on choosing your first discipline.

Complete beginners are welcome

No experience, no problem. You don't need a gi for your first class — comfortable athletic clothes are enough, and we'll walk you through everything. Saturday's 9:00 AM Fundamentals class is built specifically for newer students.

Families training together? We also run kids and teens programs and a Baby Fight Club for toddlers (12–36 months).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept drop-ins from visitors?
Yes — traveling BJJ practitioners are welcome. Message us on WhatsApp (+52 55 3426 0813) to confirm the class you want to attend and current visitor rates, or see the drop-in guide on this site.
Are classes taught in English?
Classes are taught in Spanish, but several coaches and many students speak English, and technique is shown visually — English speakers train here comfortably every week.
Do I need a gi for my first class?
No. For a trial class, athletic clothes are fine. If you're visiting and want to train Gi classes, bring your own gi; No-Gi days just need a rashguard and shorts.
How much do BJJ classes cost?
Memberships range from $499 to $999 MXN per week depending on how many classes you want, and include access to all adult programs (BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA, boxing). Trial day is free; visitor drop-in rates are confirmed by WhatsApp.
Where is the academy exactly?
Av. México 49, 1st floor, Condesa, Mexico City — right next to Parque México, above the Santas Conchas bakery. Most Condesa/Roma hotels and Airbnbs are within walking distance.
What level are the classes?
All levels train together with adjustments by experience, from white belts to black belts. Saturday 9 AM is Fundamentals; evening classes usually have the most competitive rolls.
