Training in Condesa: a neighborhood guide

Training in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City

If you're planning a training trip to Mexico City, where you stay shapes your whole experience. For most visiting athletes, the answer is easy: Condesa. Here's why this leafy, walkable neighborhood is the perfect base, and how to make the most of it.

Why Condesa?

Condesa is one of CDMX's most beloved neighborhoods: tree-lined streets, art-deco buildings, two beautiful parks, and a café or taquería on every corner. It's safe, walkable and central, which means less time in traffic and more time on the mats. Neighboring Roma is just as good and right next door.

Train: MD Condesa

We're right on Parque México, at Av. México 49. You can train BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA and boxing, all walkable from most Condesa and Roma stays. We welcome drop-ins year-round — message us on WhatsApp to set up a session.

Recover: the parks

Parque México and Parque España are perfect for a shakeout jog, mobility work or just a coffee in the shade on a rest day. After hard rounds, a walk under the jacarandas beats sitting in a hotel room.

Refuel: where to eat

You're at altitude and training hard — eat well and hydrate. Condesa makes that easy.

From world-class tacos to healthy bowls, smoothie bars and specialty coffee, Condesa and Roma are a food lover's dream. You'll never struggle to find a good post-training meal, whatever your diet.

Practical tips for training here

  • Altitude: Mexico City is ~2,240 m (7,350 ft). Expect your cardio to feel it for the first few days.
  • Getting around: Condesa is walkable; ride-hailing apps are cheap and easy for anything further.
  • Water: drink bottled or filtered water and hydrate more than usual.
  • Language: a little Spanish goes a long way, but you'll be fine in English at our gym.
